The Sun Steam
The Sun Steam was created to rejuvenate skin and soul. This blend of herbs and flowers is focused on repair and renewal with the intention of promoting self confidence. As you inhale your steam vapors, envision the epitome of you and appreciate how perfect you already are. With every breath, inhale fortitude and exhale doubt. End with an appreciation of how lovely you are inside and out.
Ingredients: Calendula Officinalis (Calendula)*, Equisetum Arvense (Horsetail)*, Centella Asiatica (Gotu Kola)*, Rosa Centifolia (Rose)*, Achillea Millefolium (Yarrow)*
Use your blend to create a:
Facial Steam - add boiling distilled water to approximately 1/4 - 1/2 cup of herbs. Steep for 2 minutes, then lean over the steam with a towel draped over your head. Inhale and relax for 5 - 7 minutes. Full instructions and more information can be found here.
Yoni Steam - prepare your steam in the same way as for a facial steam, but squat over the steam with a blanket or heavy skirt around you. You may want to spend more time over your steam than you would with a facial steam.
Facial Toner - brew your herbs as a tea, or save your steam water to use as a refreshing face mist, face mask activator, or toner (add a few drops apple cider vinegar to make a more astringent toner). Be sure to use distilled (not spring or tap) water and store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
Herbal Vinegar - infuse vinegar by filling a lidded, glass jar with your botanical blend. Add white or apple cider vinegar to cover the herbs and seal the jar. Shake well and store in a cabinet for 6 weeks, shaking each day. Upon completion, strain your botanicals out and use the vinegar in cooking or dilute with distilled water to drink or use as a toner.
Hydrosol - fresh is typically best for hydrosols, but dried herbs do work well. Rehydrate your herbs in a lidded stock pot with 2 - 3 inches distilled water. Place a steam basket, stand, or other heat proof item to set a bowl on so that it is not in the water. Cover the pot by placing the lid upside down on it. This will force the condensation to drip into your catchment bowl. Heat your botanicals, but try not to bring them to a full boil, and allow the condensation to collect in your bowl for 20 minutes. You can place ice cubes on top of your lid to speed the condensation. The water that collects in the bowl is your hydrosol. Store in a clear glass container so you can see if any ghosts form, but a pure hydrosol has a relatively long shelf life.
